The uniqueness of the traditional Japanese Garden requires that it's design and construction be guided by the Philosophy of the Japanese People of the day who created these beautiful Gardens. All decisions [design, construction and maintenance ] are based upon the importance assigned to the natural elements and the respect bestowed upon all creatures, plants, rocks , soil, water and sky.
An important step will be for you and us to get to know one another. This will make it possible not only to see the site and to discuss it, but also to get a feeling of your wishes for your garden. Japanese gardens are essentially an extension of your home and an integral part of your life.
You will provide us with a site plan, if possible, and photos of the existing features. Make your wishes known in the form of verbal explanation and/or by collecting and choosing pictures from magazines.
The above will be a guide to us. If you have any questions contact us at: ekochdesigns@interbaun.com.
Then our task begins with:
- Conceptual planning and consultation
- Basic design and general features
- Sometimes, at this point, we might prepare a scale, sandbox model, for a better understanding of the final design intent
- Master plans for construction and planting
- Detail construction drawing for all features. eg.: rock grouping, basin, bridge, viewing pavilion, tea house etc.
- Special construction details
Japanese gardens are sometimes desired for atriums, public gardens, even special show gardens (conservatories, malls, exhibitions). Here too, we can do the work.
